To choose the right transformer for your needs, follow these steps: 1. Calculate the total wattage of all the fixtures you will be powering. 2. Ensure that the total loaded wattage of your landscaping lights does not exceed 80% of the rated capacity of the transformer.

If you want to use this transformer with a smart plug/timer: 1. Place the timer before the transformer in the power supply chain. The order should be power supply --> smart plug/timer --> transformer. 2. Switch the transformer to "ON" mode, then connect it with your smart switch while the transformer is in "ON" mode.
